Options for Community Living, Inc. is looking for a Financial Entitlement Coordinator to join our team! An ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Must meet standards for designation as Qualified Mental Health Staff (QMHS).
  • Bachelor’s degree* in human service-related discipline, or in a mental health discipline, or certified or licensed as a Social Worker.
  • At least three years of experience working with persons with psychiatric disabilities, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, chemical dependency, or other chronic conditions.
  • Excellent writing skills, time management, organization and assessment abilities are required.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, valid auto insurance, and access to a vehicle is required.

Salary Range:

$45,500/yr. ($25.00/hr.) – $58,240/yr. ($32.00/hr.).

Salary offers will be commensurate with experience and other qualifications.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (35 hours/week)

Location – In-person based out of our Ronkonkoma and Hempstead offices, with field visits required

Responsibilities:

The Financial Entitlement Coordinator provides assistance to the Financial Entitlement Supervisor with the oversight of the Supportive Housing Program in Nassau and Suffolk County regarding initial and ongoing financial matters. The Financial Entitlement Coordinator acts as a liaison between the Intake Department, program staff, and the financial department to ensure accurate documentation and timely submission of all financial documents and ensure the program rent is paid on time.

  • Accompany and train staff and residents on entitlement agencies (DSS/SSA). Apply/ recertify for benefits as well as any emergency assistance applications with clients.
  • Provide on site assistance at Supportive housing and licensed sites to assist with financial matters, along with driving residents to various financial appointments.
  • Develop proficient knowledge for all programs under the Social Security Administration, Department of Social Services, trust companies, rep-payee regulations, and OMH/ HUD financial regulations.
  • Oversee accounts for Options representative payee accounts to ensure no excess income and rep-payee spending guidelines are followed. Assist with applying for representative payees.
  • Work with clerical and financial staff on development and processing of initial leases, sub leases, completion of the process requirements for annual re-certifications, interim re-certifications, unit transfers and annual rental worksheets.
  • Assist HUD program with annual recertifications, collection and processing of documents.
  • Assist clients and staff with obtaining annual recertification documents.
  • Assist with maintaining benefits by helping residents and staff complete necessary applications, recertifications and the submission of all required documentation.
  • Serve as a support for Program Supervisors, provide availability to answer questions regarding benefit and entitlement concerns under the guidance of the Financial Entitlement Supervisor.
  • Monitor the monthly rents, reoccurring arrears, delinquent accounts, develop budgets as needed. Ensure Personal needs allowance is provided for applicable programs.
  • Maintain and update the weekly grid for the supportive housing program.
  • Process rent adjustments in accordance with established procedures, including obtaining verifications, entering information into computer, etc.
  • Assist intake department for all new move ins financial documents.
  • Attend new resident move ins and completes necessary documentation for Medicaid, HEAP, SSA, PA and changing addresses as needed. Ensures all benefits are secured timely.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding all resident’s accounts with Program Supervisors and Financial Entitlement Supervisor in addition to other agency departments.
  • Assist program staff to ensure Medicaid and all other benefits are maintained.
  • Conduct quarterly audits of licensed financial binders.
  • Establish relationships with the Department of Social Services to communicate regarding financial matters.
  • Attend fair hearing and accompany residents and staff. Assist in thorough preparation of documentation and preparation by all participants.
  • Facilitate conversations with residents who are in arrears, and work with residents and program to develop interventions to have arrears paid in full.
  • Develop a training program to train staff on all aspects of finances.
  • Conduct quarterly financial training and individualized training as needed.
  • Assist with new hire training.
  • Other relevant tasks as assigned by management.
